Isle of Bute - Kilchattan bay and Ettrick bay

Kilchattan bay

I have pretty great pictures to show for today! We hopped on a pretty early bus to Kilchattan bay and started the day with a walk around the south end of the island, at the beginning of the West Island Way, a long distance path. Pretty amazing views towards the surrounding islands from this path, I definitely recommend it!

Even though the sun was never truly out today, the clouds and flat sea were beautiful to watch.

Among other things we saw the ruins of the XIIth century Saint Blane chapel, and a group of standing stones.

At the end of the day we sat and enjoyed Ettrick bay, another bus ride away from Rothesay, a wonderful place too.

The Isle of Bute is known for having colonies of seals but we unfortunately didn't see any! Maybe we'll be more lucky on Arran...
