Dunkeld and Birnam

As you can see, the sun is no longer out in the twin villages of Dunkeld and Birnam where I was yesterday.
There are several remarkable things about these villages. Birnam was the holiday destination of author Beatrix Potter as a child, and where she got her love of nature and inspiration for her famous children's books.
Birnam is also home to an ancient native oak tree, remnant of the woods mentioned in the Shakespeare play Macbeth.
"Macbeth shall never vanquish'd be until Great Birnam Wood to high Dunsinane Hill shall come against him."
The two villages are separated by the river Tay, and linked through a bicentennial bridge.
And Dunkeld features a beautiful cathedral, which was partly destroyed during a battle that took place within the village between Jacobites and Cameroonians.
Not to mention the nice café Spill The Beans in Dunkeld with amazing cakes!
